[Douglas is wandering toward Azalea currently, having just recently gotten through Union cave, and he's about halfway there. He's been traveling for almost twenty-two days, and he looks like it. He's long since finished the lunch Mom packed him and he's got the basket it was in about half filled with berries at this point. There's sweat beading on his brow despite the cool weather and he's trekking along as steadfastly as possible. His shuckle, Sheldon, is currently completely inside his shell and he's nestled among the berries in the basket, asleep or just being antisocial]

So anyway... I think I might have a problem. See... this little guy doesn't like me at all. I named him Sheldon. Figured if he had a name, he might bond with me better. But I can't get him to come outta his shell.

Anybody know what to do about this kinda thing? Does it happen a lot? And I know this might sound kinda weird, but can these things... ya know... talk?

I had that same problem with Clam. I thought he was dead for the longest.

Did you try talking to him? Or putting him in water? Clam finally opened up when I let him swim around a little.

I've talked to him a little bit, but I didn't really think about water.

[he pauses, and then he stops and glances at the small pond he's passing. Shifting the 'gear a little, he moves over to the pond and hesitates briefly before he sits Sheldon in the water]

Don't drown on me, okay?

[the shuckle comes out of his shell and Douglas grins slightly]

Wow... I never woulda guessed. Thanks. How long'd it take for you to try that on Clam?

_{[Henry waits quietly for Douglas to give it a try. He tries to get a good look through the gear and can't help a shy smile as he sees the pokemon come out.]}

A good long while. I started thinking he was dead.

[he watches Sheldon swim around for a moment]

Thanks for the help. Never woulda thought of it myself. Didn't even realize they liked water.

He sorta looks like a deep sea snail or something. I've got a cat-shaped pokemon. It acts just like a cat.

Guess you're right. I dunno what to call him, actually. Slug-snail-turtle seems about right.
