[video .001] -- Route intro post

((OOC: oh my god, you guys, what am I even doing? Late intro is so late because of NaNoWriMo and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING, besides. Enjoy :'D Sorry if I derp this up like the derp I am. Also, feel free to add your own character tags. Tag add new/delete and add/remove to entry is set to any user because I am too trusting))

[the feed shows Douglas Cartland blinking in the middle of a random field in the sunlight, shielding his eyes from the sun. He's got his 'gear in one hand and his Shuckle in the other and he's staring hard into the screen]

How the heck do I... how am I supposed to work this thing? Is it like a phone? One of those new video phone things or...

[pause]

Oh, it's recordin'. Okay. Well uh... not sure if anybody can hear this but I'd really like to know where I am. Some woman gave me lunch and shoved me outside when I woke up this morning, but that's not really important. What I really wanna know is where I woke up.

Hello? Anybody listenin'?

[he frowns]

There's no way this is Maine.

[he resists the urge to say "I have a feeling I'm not in Kansas anymore", because this isn't the time at all]

Johto? Huh. That doesn't sound familiar.

[he frowns]

Here for a while? Why uh... why am I here, do ya know?
exeggutorhead: (hmm?)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2011-11-11 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Nobody's figured it out, people just wake up here and get sent on their way.

[Shrug.] Never heard of Maine, and I'm guessing you've never heard of Amestris.

So this happens a lot, then?

[a sigh]

Nope, doesn't sound familiar. So I'm guessin' that means I'm pretty far from home.
exeggutorhead: (look how friendly I am)

Once a week! [Envy gives an overly cheerful and not too genuine grin. Envy's gotten much more used to Johto while he's been here, and he's made a lot more friends than he'd ever have in his own world, but that doesn't mean he can't still be bitter about being kidnapped here and his powers taken away.]

An entire world away, it turns out. And there's no way back, unless you just disappear. [Envy is not a very reassuring person sorry Douglas.]

[identity profile] thinkimsuperman.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
[and thus Douglas is not reassured]

Oh. Well uh... there's not much from home I miss, at least. I mean, I've only got one friend, and it turns out she's here. And I'm sure not gonna miss my ex-wife, so...

It would be worse.

[he puts on a thinking face]

Do people disappear a lot?
exeggutorhead: (hmm?)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2011-11-17 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky you, then. Who's the friend? [He wonders if he knows them. That would effect his decision whether or not to troll the hell out of Douglas with false information like he does with a lot of newbies.]

It depends. Sometimes a lot of people disappear at once, especially around the start of the month, and other times not many do at all.

Yeah, I guess I really did get lucky, considerin' there's only one crazy world with her in it and it's the one I ended up in. Her name's Heather. Heather Mason. She's a short little blonde thing, with freckles?
exeggutorhead: (happy grin)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2011-11-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You're from Heather's world?

[Yep, he definitely knows Heather. He also knows her reaction to the last few people who showed up from her world, so he's cautious, but he's also a pretty good judge of when people are lying. And Douglas doesn't look it.]

[So have a grin.]
She was one of the first people who talked to me when I showed up.

[identity profile] thinkimsuperman.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[he nods slightly]

Yeah. From what she's told me there're a lot of people here from our world. Some of 'em aren't exactly people I'd wanna see again.

[and then he grins back]

She's pretty good at that, isn't she? Makin' ya feel welcome, I mean?
exeggutorhead: (look how friendly I am)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2011-11-30 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've met one or two of them. Not the nicest people. [Not that Envy can talk; he's been behaving in Johto (in part thanks to meeting people like Heather) and he's able to act friendly enough, but back in his world he's definitely one of the villains.]

Sounds about right. I was lucky to meet her, she's a good person to have as a friend.

What's your name, anyway?

[identity profile] thinkimsuperman.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. Lotta crazy cultists, and people like that.

[oops, he forgot all about being polite]

Douglas Cartland. What's yours?
exeggutorhead: (I'm so pretty)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2011-11-30 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Cultists, huh? [He'd figured it was something like that, from Vincent using the title 'Father' and Heather telling him it was some sort of organization, but he doesn't have many details. And he's been curious as hell about it.]

Envy. Weird name, I know, but my mother had an interesting sense of humor.

Re: [video]

[identity profile] thinkimsuperman.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, cultists. They're uh... they're pretty bad. With all their sacrifices and their drug peddlin' and makin' people do their dirty work for 'em.

[a small chuckle at that last part]

Most mothers do have weird senses of humor, from what I've seen.
