[the feed shows Douglas Cartland blinking in the middle of a random field in the sunlight, shielding his eyes from the sun. He's got his 'gear in one hand and his Shuckle in the other and he's staring hard into the screen]

How the heck do I... how am I supposed to work this thing? Is it like a phone? One of those new video phone things or...

[pause]

Oh, it's recordin'. Okay. Well uh... not sure if anybody can hear this but I'd really like to know where I am. Some woman gave me lunch and shoved me outside when I woke up this morning, but that's not really important. What I really wanna know is where I woke up.

Hello? Anybody listenin'?

[he frowns]

There's no way this is Maine.

[he resists the urge to say "I have a feeling I'm not in Kansas anymore", because this isn't the time at all]

[because, more than a year ago, Sora asked Heather what the world she's from is like-- and she described Maine as being a place chock full of weirdos.]

[however! there is one weirdo Sora had promised to keep an eye out for on her behalf. "a kinda burly old guy with a trenchcoat, a fedora, and a scraggly beard." named Douglas.]

-- Stay right there, okay? Don't go anywhere!

[he may as well be flailing at the 'gear-- and maybe he is, once he ducks out of the camera's gaze. enjoy that view of the wall, Douglas.]

[Douglas is confused and he raises an eyebrow]

O--[but Sora's already rushed off, leaving Douglas to stare at the wall]--kay...

[a slightly defeated Sora eventually pops back up on the 'gear-- he forgot the fact that when Leon has his journal, he has everything that goes with it, including the Very Important Thing he wanted to show Douglas.]

[but just you wait. you are not escaping just yet.]

I couldn't find it, but that's okay! Heather's told me all about you, sir.

[he smiles a little sheepishly]

She said good stuff, I hope?

Yup, she did!

[... well, okay, she called him a weirdo. but it totally a term of endearment! at least, Sora's pretty sure it was.]

She asked me to keep an eye out for you in case you ever showed up here.

[he smiles slightly at that]

Well uh... here I am, I guess. Even though I'm still not sure how I got here.
