((OOC: oh my god, you guys, what am I even doing? Late intro is so late because of NaNoWriMo and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING, besides. Enjoy :'D Sorry if I derp this up like the derp I am. Also, feel free to add your own character tags. Tag add new/delete and add/remove to entry is set to any user because I am too trusting))

[the feed shows Douglas Cartland blinking in the middle of a random field in the sunlight, shielding his eyes from the sun. He's got his 'gear in one hand and his Shuckle in the other and he's staring hard into the screen]

How the heck do I... how am I supposed to work this thing? Is it like a phone? One of those new video phone things or...

[pause]

Oh, it's recordin'. Okay. Well uh... not sure if anybody can hear this but I'd really like to know where I am. Some woman gave me lunch and shoved me outside when I woke up this morning, but that's not really important. What I really wanna know is where I woke up.

Hello? Anybody listenin'?

[he frowns]

There's no way this is Maine.

[he resists the urge to say "I have a feeling I'm not in Kansas anymore", because this isn't the time at all]

I guess I'm just worried it's like this place I went to once, a couple of months ago. It was full of monsters, and there were these cultists who broke my legs. Stuff like that.

[he makes a face at the memory]

This place have anything like that?

I dunno if that's something that I'm gonna get used to right away, time workin' funny. I like my time the way it is.

[he forces a smile, still a little freaked out]

Yeah, I guess once you've seen the stuff we've seen, you've seen it all.

Nothin' could be worse than Silent Hill.
Even if this place does have... ya know... monsters.

Oh well the Otherworld is...

[he swallows. Don't make the nice man think you're crazy, Doug]

It's just a pretty bad place. It's got monsters so I was just thinkin' you know... 'cause these Pokemen things look kinda like monsters.

Oh, no!

[She holds up her Teddyursa.]

He hasn't hurt me at all!

So I'm guessin' a lot, then.
Are any of them dangerous?

[Douglas likes to get his worst case scenario worries done right off the bat, thank you very much]

[he glances down at his Shuckle, who is sleeping uselessly, hanging over the edge of his hand]

Well, I guess this guy hasn't hurt me, either.
So they're friendly?

There are many kinds of monsters in the world. Any world. But here they're generally of the good variety so I wouldn't say you have a lot to worry about.

_{[C:! But he does pick up on Douglas' uneasiness and eyes him curiously for a moment or two. The Otherworld, hm?]}

[She gives a nod.]

Uh huh! I've heard if you defeat gym leaders with your Pokemon you might could leave!

[A long pause as Harry just looks at him.]

You helped her.

.....But she wouldn't have needed your help in the first place if you hadn't become involved....

[He sighs and rubs his forehead, feeling older then before. Silent Hill seemed to do that to a person. And then just looks back at the screen.]

I'm not going to tell you to stay away from her. But I'll be keeping an eye on you. And if you ever do anything to hurt my daughter ever again. You'll see exactly how I managed to survive Silent Hill.

[And with that, he cuts the video feed.]

_{[Truer words never spoken. Anyone who's seen the Otherworld has had a glimpse of Hell, and there's not much you can do to top that.]

[But Heather smiles, encouragingly.]}

Believe me, as spooky as some of the monsters can get around here, they got nothin' on Silent Hill. This place is like... if places were books, Silent Hill would be some kind of... giant pornographic Lovecraft novel with lots of illegible footnotes and graphic illustrations of eldritch abominations, and this would be like... a coloring book.

_{[... And there she goes with the wacky extended metaphors that don't quite work. Take comfort in this, Douglas-- Heather may have been 'gone' for a year and a third, but she apparently hasn't changed too much.]}

Monsters and cultists...? Um, well, most of the monsters are friendly. Geez, is he Heather's neighbor or something?

[Henry, all your hesitating isn't making you look very good.]}

If you're her friend, what's her favorite color?

Lucky you, then. Who's the friend? [He wonders if he knows them. That would effect his decision whether or not to troll the hell out of Douglas with false information like he does with a lot of newbies.]

It depends. Sometimes a lot of people disappear at once, especially around the start of the month, and other times not many do at all.

They get stronger as you go. At first they're not too tough to deal with.

Yeah. Some of them. But ours tend to be... protective of us. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I guess I really did get lucky, considerin' there's only one crazy world with her in it and it's the one I ended up in. Her name's Heather. Heather Mason. She's a short little blonde thing, with freckles?

'Course I'm her friend. You don't gotta test me or... [and then it hits him]

Oh, she's probably told you about how things were with The Order, right? I guess it makes sense why you're gettin' all jumpy. I mean... usually people knowin' her name means trouble. I figured that out pretty quick.

[he rubs the back of his neck]

It sounds bad, but I dunno her favorite color. For a while it was blue, but then she was like "Douglas I hate blue now" and she switched over to red, and then it was blue again, and for ten minutes it was purple, and then orange and... I dunno if any of those even were her favorite colors or if she was tryin' to confuse me so much that I'd lose track of what color she liked and not go through with buyin' her a sweater like I wanted to. She said I didn't need to be fussin' over her. Even though I think she kinda likes being fussed over, deep down.

[and now he realizes he's gone into rant mode with quite possibly the last ranty person he has met here and he clams up]

Uh... sorry. Guess I kinda went off on a tangent there.

Friendly monsters? Now I've seen everything.

[he shakes his head in disbelief]

Yeah, monsters and cultists. Place called Silent Hill. It's awful there I... just don't go there if you're ever in Maine, okay?

[Douglas just sort of stares at the blank screen for a moment, a little dumbfounded and maybe starting to realize a little of just exactly how badass his young friend's father really is. Intimidatingly so, apparently. The hair on the back of his neck is standing up.

And then he switches the feed off]

[Oh.]

[As Douglas continues, the tiny angryface Henry is making melts. That...sounds very much like an old man that Heather has given a hard time. He's SEEN how she worked.]}

It's okay. _{I don't think she even knows her favorite color.} I'm sorry. It's just...yeah. The Order. And stuff. Crazy people.

_{Not that I think you look crazy because you don't.}

But we have to be careful.

Ya know, I always liked coloring books.

[he smiles back, and this time his smile is a lot more genuine. Partly because of the encouragement in her words and partly because there's even more comfort in just how Heather that statement was. The full brunt of just how much he missed her didn't really hit him before, and the wave of nostalgia now makes him realize just how lucky he was for that fact]

Maybe I'll like it here. Seems sunnier than Maine, and who knows, maybe I won't be so lonely here. I was never the best at makin' friends back home. Not ones who stuck around, anyway.

[he's still grinning]

Well, I guess I should consider myself lucky, then.

I haven't run into any besides this little guy yet.

[he chuckles]

Yeah, sometimes I think she knows less about herself than other people do. I guess she's too busy with other stuff, though. She's never really been much to get self-absorbed very often.

[he nods, knowingly]

You been mixed up with those guys too, huh? Yeah, you can never be too careful when it comes to them. Learned that as soon as I figured out just what that Claudia woman was up to... right after she broke my legs. They're not a good bunch.

[his expression's all srs bsns now]

Hey, it's never so bad to assume somebody's crazy. We really do... gotta be careful.

[another glance at the Shuckle]

Protective, huh? Okay. Honestly, I get the feelin' I'm gonna have to be more concerned over this little guy than myself. He seems kinda lazy.

_{[Henry listens quietly. He's glad to know (or hope he knows) that Douglas is on his side.]

[However he can't stop wondering if the man was in a wheelchair and if he was, how was he going to get from town to town? The roads were rough.]}

Yeah. I was supposed to be sacrificed.
