Now and then glimpses of Douglas can be seen sitting on the bed of his room in the inn with his head in his hands. He's breathing heavily, and it's pretty obvious that he's been chasing the Pokemon around trying to get the 'gear from him, though to no avail]

Just feel free to ignore it. He's bein' a pain in the ass again.
